FAQs
What are the requirements of the group members?
1. The total duration of the Chinese-university-sponsored program will not exceed 14 days (including arrival and departure time);
2. The group consists of 8 or more students (the more the better) who are 13 years of age or older and of German citizenship and accompanying guardians (teachers, parents, etc.). There is no limitation on the nationality of the accompanying guardians;
3. Accompanying guardians had better be no older than 65 years old and have experience in cross-cultural exchanges; the ratio of guardians to students should be between 1:5 and 1:10, for example, if there are 10 students, SWU will sponsor at most 2 guardians;
4. If there are any accompanying guardians exceeding the ratio of Article 3, they need to pay for their own expenses, and the standard of their own expenses (Chongqing section) is also shown in the attachment, while that of other cities is subject to the actual expenses.
Why Beijing, Xi’An, Chongqing?
The seven most important mega-cities in China are Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Tianjin.
Beijing is an ancient city with a history of more than 3,000 years, during which it served as a capital for more than 800 years. It is a world-famous historical and cultural city that reflects the continuity of Chinese civilization and an international metropolis engaged in making itself a World City with Chinese characteristics. It is a harmonious city that is imbued with the Beijing Spirit: Patriotism, Innovation, Inclusiveness, Virtue.
Xian, the eternal city, records the great changes of the Chinese nation just like a living history book. Called Chang'an in ancient times, Xian is one of the birthplaces of the ancient civilization in the Yellow River Basin area of the country. During Xian's 3,100 year development, 13 dynasties placed their capitals here. So far, Xian enjoys equal fame with Athens, Cairo, and Rome as one of the four major ancient civilization capitals.
Chongqing is the only municipality in the western region of China, ranking fourth in terms of economic output and first in terms of population and area. Actually it is the biggest city in the world. Chongqing is a popular destination for travelers with its beautiful mountains, rivers, night views and hot pot.
Why Communication University of China (CUC), Chang An University (CHU) and Southwest University (SWU)?
Communication University of China (CUC)
The Communication University of China (CUC) is one of the China’s key universities included in 211 Project and “985 Project Innovation Platform” under the Double First-Class Initiative, which is directly administered by the Ministry of Education. The university is known as the “cradle of talents in broadcasting, television, and media” and a prestigious institution in the field of information dissemination. Founded in 1954, it is located in Dingfuzhuang, Chaoyang District, Beijing. CUC currently has two national Double First-Class disciplines: Journalism and Communication Studies, and Drama, Cinematic & Television Studies. Chang An University (CHU)
Chang'an University is located in Xi'an, China. It is a national key university established in 1951. it is listed under Project 211, Project 985 Innovation Platform, and Double First-Class Project of China. It is known that there are 2688 universities in China, and Chang'an University ranks 89 according to Shanghai Ranking "Best Chinese Universities Ranking"(ARWU) https://www.shanghairanking.com/institution /changan-university. As for majors and subjects, we are famous for engineering. In the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects of ARWU, our Mining & Mineral Engineering ranks 51-75, Civil Engineering ranks 100-150, Transportation Science & Technology 100-150, Water Resources ranks 100-150. Southwest University (SWU)
Founded in 2005, SWU encompasses Southwest Normal University and Southwest Agricultural University, which share an origin dating back to 1906. As a member of “211 Project” and “Double First-class” universities, SWU has an extensive set of disciplinary categories. It is especially known for its distinctive teacher education and agricultural education. Among the renowned scholars who have shared their insights at SWU were HOU Guangjiong, Father of China’s Modern Grology; ZHANG Furong, founder of teaching theory in China; XIANG Zhonghuai, developer of the first framework of silkworm genome in the world; and HUANG Xiting, psychologist and educationist. Their endeavors have attributed to various notable graduates, including YUAN Longping, father of hybrid rice; HU Jinchu, founder of ecological biology of pandas; SHI Tingmao and ZHAO Shuai, Olympic champions.
Where do the groups live?
The group will be staying in International Students Dormitory during their stay at CUC, CHU and SWU, all of which have independent air-conditioning, cupboards, desks and chairs, bathrooms (regular toilet, not squatting toilet), refrigerators, and so on. Each or every other floor has a laundry room and kitchen. Each building has a study room and gym.

About expenses and visa for the students and accompanying guardians:
Financial support from SWU: all group costs during your stay in China, including accommodation, living expenses, transportation, course fees, cultural activities arrangements and intercity transportation, etc.
Participants will be responsible for the following expenses, including but not limited to:
✧ Airfare: Round-trip international travel expenses to and from China.
✧ Insurance: Personal accident and medical insurance during international travel.
✧ Additional accommodation: Additional accommodation costs incurred for personal reasons during the trip.
✧Customs duties on personal items, excess baggage fees, storage fees, mailing fees, and additional costs due to force majeure events such as transportation delays, strikes, weather disruptions, or flight cancellations.
✧Personal expenses such as laundry, hairdressing, telephone calls and other items are not covered in the "group costs."
The type of entry visa is not limited.
