From May 31stto June 1st, the 5thInternational Student Football League of theSubordinate Normal Universityopened at Northeast Normal University. Six international student football teams from Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Central China Normal University, Northeast Normal University, Southwest University and Shaanxi Normal University competed fiercely on the green field.
As the champion of the last football league,thefootball teamof our universityushered in the first fierce rival: the team ofEast China Normal University. At the beginning of the competition, the two sides quickly entered the peak condition and launched round after round of scrambling and attacking. With tacit cooperation and skillful strategies, players of our university attacked to the opponent’s goal again and again. In the end, Southwest University defeated East China Normal University with a score of 5:0. In the second group stage in the afternoon, our university played against Beijing Normal University. The competition between the two sides was exciting. In the end, our university won with an absolute advantage of 9:1, and as the first in the group entered the final together with the host Northeast Normal University.
It rained much more heavily with the game heatingup, which made the field slippery. Soevery run came with the risk of slippingwhileeachdefense required a great deal of effort. However,the rain did not dampen their fighting spirits, but filled them with determination andresoluteness.The rain was getting heavier, and the battle continued to be scorching. Due to the slippery filed, some athletes lost balance and got hurt in the fierce battle. It was wrenching, but they still struggled for the ball.
Their persistence and struggle won both the applause and the champion. Finally, throughtheaccurate passing and tacit running, our team members constantly tore the opponent’s defense.In the face of the tight defense of the teamofNortheast Normal University,our teammembers did not rush to success, but patiently looked for a breakthrough.At last, in a tacit pass and excellent cooperation, our team members successfully sent the ball into the opponent’s penalty area, and scored a point with a precise shot! With this goal, our school won the game! We are the champions!
In thepost-match evaluation, three members of ourteamalso won the individual awardsof“best player”,“best scorer”and“best goalkeeper”.
Looking back on this journey, it is full of ups and downs but wonderfulin the end: this is another peak of the competitive strength and team spirit of our international football team after winning the championship in 2016 and 2019.
On the afternoon of May 31st, the Seminar on Education for Studying in China was held in the conference room on the7thfloor of the Administration Building of Northeast Normal University.The leaders from the six subordinate normal universities attended the meeting. Liu Meng, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the International College of SWU and Geng Jun, the Deputy Secretary were invited to the conference. Secretary Liu Meng said that the Football League was jointly initiated by our university and East China Normal University in 2016, aiming to strengthen the ties between brother universities, cultivate students’teamwork spirit and competitive consciousness. Representatives of the six brother universities conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the education work of studying in China, reached a lot of consensus, and jointly helped the high-quality development of the cause of studying in China.
