One-year Program:
Program targets
1. Elementary Chinese Program: suitable for Chinese beginners.
2. Intermediate Chinese Program: suitable for Chinese learners with about 1200 Chinese words, and knowledge of basic Chinese grammars.
3. Advanced Chinese Program: suitable for Chinese learners of new HSK4 level, with a vocabulary of 3000 or more.
Program focus
1. Elementary Chinese Program: basic Chinese listening and speaking, grammars and writing.
2. Intermediate Chinese Program: comprehensive Chinese, intermediate Chinese reading and writing, intermediate Chinese listening and speaking.
3. Advanced Chinese Program: comprehensive Chinese, advanced Chinese reading and writing, advanced Chinese listening and speaking.
Program objectives
1. Elementary Chinese Program: to help learners to develop certain listening, speaking and writing abilities, meet the basic needs of daily living and learning communication.
2. Intermediate Chinese Program: to develop learners to express themselves fluently on discourse level about general topics in real life, enlarge their vocabulary to 3000 words, expand and consolidate their knowledge of basic Chinese grammars.
3. Advanced: to develop learners to communicate with normal speed, express themselves fluently on discourse level about specified topics, enlarge their vocabulary to 5000 or more words.

Eligibility
1. Non-Chinese citizen in good health.
2. 16 years old and above, with valid foreign passport.
Documents Required
1. Application Form to Southwest University (in duplicate, including one photocopy).
2. Photocopy of highest education certificate.
3. Copy of passport.
4. Two photocopies of Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (Applicants keep the original form for study visa application.).
Application Procedure
Online Application and Admission Procedures
1. Log onto the website of SWU online application for international students (https://swu.17gz.org/member/login.do). Complete steps including online name registration, password setting, and verification code input, etc.;
2. Click “Download” on the website of SWU online application for international students, and download “Application Form Southwest University” and “Physical Examination Form for Foreigner”;
3. Fill in “Application Form to Southwest University”. Take physical exam at local public hospital as requested. Applicants should follow exam items to take physical examination. Please note that any physical exam form with missing items or without photograph, official seal of the hospital or signature of the doctor will be considered as invalid document. Since the result of the physical exam is valid for six months, please arrange the examination time accordingly to make sure the result is good for application;
4. Log into the website (https://swu.17gz.org/member/login.do), then fill in/select certain information, and upload required application documents;
5. Confirm information filled in/selected and documents uploaded, and click “Submit”;
6. Southwest University evaluates the application materials and announces the name list of the qualified applicants on the website of http://gjxy.swu.edu.cn, and notifies them by emails;
7. “Admission Notice” and “Visa Application for Study in China” (JW202 form) are to be mailed to applicants admitted one or two months ahead of a new term.
Important Time Window
1. Application: Usually within 2 or 3 months before a semester.
2. Registration: Early September or late February/early March each year.

Remarks
Ø Chinese culture experience trips can be arranged upon request and the expenses are to be covered by learners themselves.
Ø Rich cultural activities like SWU International Cultural Festival, Chinese Proficiency Competition for International Students, Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, SWU International Sports Meeting, etc. will be organized yearly.
